PLAYING THE FLOAT

ABOUT THE VIGNETTE

The 30-minute short film Playing the Float is a proof-of-concept presentation to the full-length feature – a tense, character-driven legal drama built around one explosive courtroom confrontation.

Marco Tirelli experienced years of a powerful insurance company and its attorneys dismantle his livelihood, distort the truth, and brand him a fraud. At the center of the campaign is Lucy Ellis, an ambitious attorney determined to turn Marco’s suffering into the victory that will secure her reputation and advance her career.

But Marco is no ordinary man.

After more than two years of studying the law, legal procedure, evidence, and courtroom strategy, he enters the courtroom prepared to defend himself. Outnumbered by a formidable law firm and facing an opponent willing to manipulate every perception in court, Marco has only one advantage:

He knows the truth.

As Lucy attempts to control the courtroom with confidence, charm, and carefully constructed accusations, Marco begins dismantling her case piece by piece. What starts as another attempt to publicly discredit him becomes the moment everything turns—when the man they believed was powerless exposes the deception, confronts the corruption, and forces the truth into the open.

The Short captures a defining moment from the larger story: one injured man standing alone against an insurance giant, a vast legal machine, and the people determined to erase his name.

They took his livelihood. Then they tried to take his reputation.

But, they never expected him to fight back.

And they never saw him coming.
